Half Moon Nail Art

Ahh week three of university went by so quickly – I can’t believe that October is just around the corner. I only had one class today, and it ended at 10 – however by the time my commute was over, I arrived at home by twelve. I decided to start my weekend off with a new nail art design. Last week, I went with a simple metallic blue manicure, but I got so bored of that and started picking at the nail polish.

This upcoming weeks nails are half moon nails! I am so in love with the colours I picked for the design, they compliment each other so well because they’re both pastel colours.

Polishes used in this design were: L’oreal One stop base, L’oreal nail polish in the shade “Penthouse” and ELF nail polish in the shade “Innocent. You will also need ring reinforcements (stickers you put on torn sheets) in order to create the half moon design. If you have a sturdy hand and are experienced with nail art brushes, you can also create the designs by using your brushes. I’m still getting used to mine, so the ring reinforcements are ideal.

Steps to creating the design:

1. Apply that base coat girls!

2. Select two colours. Pick one as your half moon color – in this case mine is pink!

3. Once your half moon colour has dried, apply your ring reinforcement sticker (you might want to cut it in half to reduce bumpiness). Once you’ve applied your sticker, simply paint the rest of your nail your second colour.

4. When your second colour has dried, simply peel off your ring reinforcement sticker – and you’ll be done!

Here’s how mine turned out:

Color Block Nail Design

Color blocking is one of the hottest trends in Fashion right now! Rather than wearing something that is color blocked, I decided to paint my nails. This design is super easy to do and you won’t have to spend much time on it.

Here’s what I used

L’oreal Base Coat and Revlon Top Coat

Step one: Apply a base coat!

ELF “Innocent” Polish, Revlon “Garden” Polish, Avon “Blue Shock” Polish. I forgot to include my Black polish from Sally Hansen, but you will need that too!

Step two: After applying your base coat, paint a vertical line on half of your nail (I used ELF’s Innocent polish for this step)

Step three: Taking your black polish, paint a black line beside the painted half. After you have done this, divide the unpainted half of your nail into two squares using the black polish as an outline.

Step four: Fill in the two squares after the black polish has dried. In this case, I used Revlons “Garden” and Avons “Blue Shock” polishes.

If you follow my steps, your nails should end up looking like this.

Step five: Top the look off with some top coat.
