Aside from the motivation, I also watch the award show for obviously the hits and misses on the red carpet!! Anyone who reads our website knows how much I enjoy red carpet events – I see it as an opportunity for others to learn from celebrities mistakes (ie. not get influenced to wear a hideous outfit!).

Naya Rivera – HIT

Naya’s outfit of the night was probably the best! I loved her black ensemble, especially because she didn’t leave it simple – the lace embroidery on the top makes it stand out and look elegant. Definitely a well played outfit for tonights award show.

Brittany Snow – MISS

I just wasn’t a fan of Brittany Snow’s dress – or the sheer polka dot skirt she added on top of that. I just feel the polka dots killed her outfit. Maybe if she went for an all black number similar to Naya it would have worked? The pink clutch she added also looks very random – I understand she may have wanted a pop of color but when the outfit itself doesn’t look well, a pop of color can do no good!

Shay Mitchell – HIT

I was waiting for Shay Mitchell to arrive and when she stepped out of the car, she looked stunning! I love her choice for tonight’s outfit – the crop and skirt was a great choice especially since it’s tribal print which is perfect for summer. It was also nice to see how much enthusiasm she had to be back in her home town – I just recently read her interview in Elle Canada (She’s their cover girl for the month) and she seems like such a down to earth person. How amazing would it be to have the chance to meet her?!

Demi Lovato – MISS

I wouldn’t say this is a hideous dress that needs to burnt right after the award show – actually, it’s not bad but there’s just nothing to it. I feel like it’s too simple which is why I put Demi on the miss list. I just wish she picked a better dress – she usually dresses well!

Taylor Swift – HIT

Can you believe it?! Taylor Swift managed to get on my hit list for a second time around! I liked her dress – I think it’s something that suits her way better than those long gowns we always see on her. I’m really liking this new wardrobe Taylor has and hope she continues to wear dresses that aren’t gowns on the red carpet!

Well, that’s another year of the MuchMusic awards – I managed to watch half of the show and wished I could have watched it all since I heard Drake made a surprise appearance?! Another thing that came to my surprise was that Josh Bowman (he plays Daniel Grayson on Revenge) actually has a British accent… Crazy isn’t it?! All of my Revenge fans will understand since he speaks so fluently in an american accent.

It’s been a while since I last wrote a post, so today I bring this quick and easy recipe that is just so yummy! This recipe is very similar to a Margarita pizza (one of my favourites!) – I just tweaked it a bit.

All I did was take some focaccia bread (which by the way I baked myself and will have a post on it shortly), sliced tomatoes, black pepper, bocconcini and let it broil in the oven for a couple of minutes or until the cheese has melted. Then, I just topped it with some delicious pesto!

 Visited my local Walmart this past weekend and was surprised to see that their beauty department was fully stocked! Whenever I go, there seems to be nothing there so I was extremely happy when I saw this little beauty on the stands! I’ve seen swatches of Fergie’s Wet N’ Wild nail polishes all over the internet and I just needed to get my hands on this one. It’s very rare for me to buy polishes similar to this one mainly because these are used if you want your nails to pop. I always have some sort of design on my nails so it’s not like I have to worry about making them stand out!

After seeing numerous swatches, I realized that this polish doesn’t look as great as it should on a bold base color. So, in order to make Fergie’s polish (in the shade “Tonight’s Gonna be a Good Night”) stand out all I did was pair it with Revlon’s “Touch of Mauve” nail polish.

Voila! The finished look!

Today I’m reviewing Lush Cosmetics’ Cupcake face mask.

I went to the local mall last week and popped in to LUSH. I always enjoy going to that store because their products always smell good and they always have cool new items! After my friend totally got sold on their Dark Angels cleanser and purchased it, I was browsing around and their face masks caught my eye. In particular, the cupcake face mask! And no, it wasn’t because there was edible chocolate placed on the scrub on display. I read all the bios for all face masks, and this one just suited me! I asked the sales lady for a sample and she was super kind and filled a mini container up to the top with the face mask!

The Cupcake face mask was made for those who suffer from combination/oily skin who not only want to reduce the amount of oil on their skin, but also tone down breakouts. I have combination skin and can feel the oils on my skin. It’s not very oily, but I hate the feeling of having oily skin, it just grosses me out! In addition to that, I have been breaking out a tiny bit so reading that this face mask could tone down my breakouts definitely made me jump at the chance to try it out!

As for the actual review: I’ve been using it for the past 5 days now, and I have mixed feelings towards this face mask.

After applying it, I leave it on for anywhere between 8-15 minutes. I take it down when it’s really hard (you know, that really good feeling when you scrunch your face together and the mask is stiff). The weird part is, when I wash it off…my face feels so oily. Every time I was washing it off, I was asking myself in my head “Is it supposed to be like this?”. However, right when I dried my face, it was absolutely matte…very toned down, no oils, nothing! And as for my breakouts, I really don’t think this mask does anything for breakouts because I did not see a difference. I feel like it just reduces the amount of oil you have on your skin.

Overall, this mask is only decent if you’d like to tone your face and make it non-oily. I did not like the scent of the mask (it mostly smells like mint and I hate mint) and I don’t think it lives up to its bio. If it says a mask is supposed to reduce oily skin and also calm breakouts, why does only one of the two things work? This is a product that I would not buy in the future. Thank god I asked for a sample. I’ll stick to my old beauty routine for now!

PS: Always remember to ask the sales person for a sample. Your face is a sensitive area so don’t purchase an item without having it on for a few days first! And, if you can’t request a sample, I’m sure you can try it out at the actual store (use a tester) and wear it for the entire day to see how it suits your face.

PPS: Sorry for the super long post! I normally try to keep it short and sweet since I know that’s what most of you love, but I’d rather have you know the truth of the product before you go out and buy it yourself!

I’m back with another nail post, but this time – rather than posting pictures on how to create my design, I decided to create a video. I recorded this some time last week, while I was trying to figure out how to record on my new camera. I wish I could of filmed this tutorial after the weekend since I learned how to film correctly on Friday!

I’ve been seeing the whole Ciate velvet nails look for quite some time now, and I really wanted to create a velvet look but splurging $21 for the kit is just not worth it to me. So, I took it upon myself and recreated this look for less than $5. The nail polish I used (Revlon’s polish in “Garden”) was probably $2 or $3 however, the velvet/flocking powder itself? A marvelous $0.96!! Yes, you read that right, just 96 cents! A huge difference in price compared to Ciate’s $21 kit.

The video is a bit blurry, but nonetheless, it’s very straight forward and has extremely easy steps to follow, so I hope you guys enjoy it!

The reason why it was so intimate was because a legendary Bollywood actor, Dharmendra and his two sons Sunny and Bobby Deol were here to promote the second part to their upcoming film.

Nina definitely got the punk side down, but I’m just not a fan of the Monique Lhuiller dress. It just doesn’t look as amazing as it should and I feel that if she went with something else, it may have been a better option.

Nicole Richie – HIT

Nicole Richie’s outfit has made me so speechless that I only need five words to describe it: Bold. Daring. Stunning. Love. PUNK!

Ashley Olsen – MISS

Ashley Olsen showed up in a Dior Couture gown from 1972. Although I love the gown, I just wish it didn’t have the chiffon on top of it. You really can’t see the detailing of the dress which is really such a shame. This look would have definitely been a hit without the chiffon on top!

Taylor Swift – HIT

If you read my red carpet posts, you’ll know that I’m almost never a fan of Taylor Swift’s red carpet picks just because they are always all the SAME! But to my surprise, she went for a very different and daring look and I have to compliment her on it. The top of this J Mendel dress is stunning – I love the lace and collar! Well done Taylor, you finally picked the right gown!

Kim Kardashian – MISS

I feel like so many people missed the memo tonight … like hello, the theme is punk-fashion not florals. For anyone who is an entertainment and fashion junkie like myself you’ll know of the whole Anna Wintour and Kim Kardashian situation. For those who don’t, I would love to fill you in! Let’s just say, Anna Wintour does not think of Kim kindly when it comes to fashion. She’s supposedly said before that Kim is just one of those reality stars that gets into all the latest shows and whatnot simply because of her status, and other than that, she has no business in fashion. Hence, why last year, Kim K was blacklisted from the event. However, with her beau performing at this years Met Gala, Kanye was able to score an extra ticket….which obviously means, Kimmy was able to finally come!

In terms of her gown, I feel like Kim has been fashion confused since she became pregnant. Her style is all over the place and well, she didn’t really rock the red carpet tonight. I was expecting more from her, but instead she wore a floral gown and some gloves…like where is the punk side to that outfit?! Overall, definitely a disappointment. She did not “Wow” anyone at her first appearance at the Met gala.

Well anyway, that’s my review for the Met Gala’s red carpet. I really hope more people follow next years theme since this year was kind of a flop.
