Born Pretty Mini Haul

Finally! I’ve received my Born Pretty items. It took three weeks, but they’re finally here. Again, for those of you who haven’t heard of Born Pretty, it’s an online store located in Hong Kong. They sell various things such as nail polish, nail art tools, phone cases, makeup products and much more. I especially love how Born Pretty items are very cheap moneywise, and they offer free shipping! And, to top it off, they always have discount codes so you can make your purchase cost even less!

Red & White Polka Dot Iphone Case – $2.66

I am in love with my new iphone case. Gosh, it’s just perfect! I originally ordered the blue and white polka dot case, so I was surprised to have opened the package to the red and white case. I emailed the Born Pretty team and they emailed back saying that they stopped making the white and blue case and wanted to give me a small gift on my next purchase as an apology. The team didn’t have to even offer me a small gift, but it was extremely kind of them to do that.

Blue Nail Art Liner Polish – $1.45

I was about to click the ‘checkout’ button but then I came across this polish under the sale section and immediately thought I needed to get this. Honestly, $1.45 for a liner polish? That’s crazy! I have yet to try out this product, but I’m sure it’s going to be great!

Silver Line Nail Art Tape – $1.90

This picture clearly doesn’t do justice. This is just the ordinary thin nail art tape but in the color silver. Born Pretty has various colors. I was originally going to buy 12 color line art nail striping tape for $8.99 but I figured that realistically, I wouldn’t be using the tape for every design so the silver one would just be better.

Well that’s all for my Born Pretty haul. I am definitely going back on the website and purchasing more items very soon! If you’re going to buy things from the website, I suggest you buy everything you want in one checkout. It takes around 3-4 weeks for the items to arrive if you don’t want to pay for shipping.

New York Color Canada Cosmetics Review

I’ve decided to do a mini makeup review on the three New York Color products I received in my Faze magazine swag bag. I only ended up liking 1 out of the 3 products, which in my eyes is pretty sad. Anyway, let’s get started!

This is New York Colors mosaic face powder in “Pink cheek glow”. It costs $4.99. As you can see, mine totally shattered and all of the colors eventually got mixed together which is really, really disappointing because this is the only NYC product I liked from the entire bag. Originally, there are 4 different shades in this powder, but as you can tell by my swatches, I was only able to find 3 out of the 4 colors. I guess the fourth color either got crumpled really badly, or it’s just mixed in with another shade of pink. I really wanted to try out and use this powder, but it’s going to be really hard now that everything is literally shattered. This is also the powder that Kim Kardashian used, but she used the shade “Peach glow”.

This is New York Colors individual eyes custom compact in “brown eyes”. It is also valued at $4.99. I was actually so excited to use this product, but once I tried it out…I was left so disappointed. Eventually, all of the colors look the exact same on your eyes – which would be a very dark brown color. You cannot create a smokey eye effect out of this palette which is funny because at the back of the palette it says you can. I guess if I really wanted, I could wear the eyeshadows individually, but even then they don’t look as great. When looking at my swatches picture, the first four are swatches of the eyeshadows. The second last swatch is the primer and the last silver swatch is of the illuminator. Overall, an extremely disappointing product! I expected way better.

This is NYC cosmetics liquid lipshine lip gloss in the shade “Prospect pink”. It costs $2.49. I am thee biggest fan of lip glosses, so I was really happy to see this. When I applied the product onto my lips, I literally said “What the heck” out loud. This just reminded me of those lip gloss palettes I used to have back in elementary school, where the lipglosses would be super sticky and glossy. Oh my. I definitely did not like this product nor do I recommend anyone else to buy it. It is not worth your time, trust me.

Well, that’s all for my New York Color cosmetics review. It was really disappointing as you can see. Maybe I’ll have better luck with NYC products in the future? Let’s sure hope so!

“Swag Bag”

As promised, here are the items we received in Faze magazine’s swag back. I apologize for the crappy picture quality. I took the pictures in the night, hence the bad lighting.

Faze magazine issue & buttons from Blo hair

Love struck by Vera Wang clutch and perfume sample, Philosophy – Purity made simple facial cleanser sample, Philosophy – Keep the peace moisturizer sample, Sally Hansen nail effects strips in “I love lacey”, NYC individual eyes custom compact in “Brown eyes”, NYC mosaic face powder in “Pink cheek glow” and NYC lipgloss in “Prospect pink”. Right off the bat, I’m so disappointed in the mosaic face powder. It’s crumbled into so many pieces. Not impressed at all!

The rest of the bag just contained miscellaneous things. Such as Wonka candy, the new gel highlighters, a pen, keychain, notepad and ear phones from Sennheiser, a few kotex products, some weird fake tattoos and a $25 off coupon for a introductory sewing program in Toronto.

Hope you guys enjoyed looking at Faze magazine’s swag bag!

Faze Magazine’s Power Up! Event

Monday evening, my friend, Carthy and I attended Faze magazine’s Power Up! event at the Capitol theatre in Toronto. This was the first time either of us attended a Faze event, and honestly, it was great! We arrived in a very rainy Toronto around 1 PM. It was the first time either of us had been to “Uptown Yonge” – for a pair of lost souls, we did an amazing job on finding our way around that area. We thought that we would surely be the first ones lined up outside the Capitol theatre since we had to take the subway (since we don’t live in Toronto) but astonishingly, there were at least 10-12 people already there – and apparently they had been there since 10 AM. Talk about dedication huh!

The one thing I truly hated about the event was the wait time. We had lined up around 2 PM and had to bare the heavy on and off rainfall. We were supposed to be let in at 5, however we had to wait nearly a half hour before security could let us in. Nonetheless, the wait time was very unpleasant. Although, during the wait time, Bridgit Mendler – the main actress on the Disney channel show “Good Luck Charlie” took some time out of her press interviews and came out to take pictures with the individuals who had been waiting.

Don’t mind the flower on my friends face – she just didn’t want to show herself. Also, I have to say that I left home literally with straight hair but then right when I arrived in Toronto that straight hair turned wavy. Thank god I put my hair up immediately or else it would have turned to my natural hair style, which is super curly!

By 5:30, we were inside. The music was blaring, pizza was out and everyone was getting into the mix of things. My friend and I were walking around to find water and who do I see standing in the corner? Well, no other then Luke Bilyk! Gosh, he’s such a cutie. Unfortunately, I couldn’t take a picture with him at that moment, he apologized and said he had to go help his friend. After our little run in with Luke, we browsed all the different booths at the show. New York Color Canada, Sally Hansen, Lovestruck by Vera Wang and a few other booths were open. None of them really caught our eye though, the representatives weren’t really interacting with the individuals coming around so we just went back to the lounge area. By that time, the show officially started and poor Carth was getting a migraine. I can’t say much about the actual event because to be honest with you, my eyes were on where Luke was. I was on complete Luke-out (haha, get it?). All I really remember is Tyler Medeiros making a special appearance and stating he was co-hosting the event. Girls were just going crazy for that guy, the screams definitely made both Carthy and I deaf that night.

While girls were going crazy for Tyler, Carth and I were on a lookout for Luke. He passed us twice, once he went down to do an interview and then another where he was being escorted on stage to say a few things to the crowd. Right when he got off stage, we ran to the entrance where he had been escorted through earlier. We just knew he would be coming back up that way. Luckily enough, this time around I was able to snap a picture with the cute Degrassi actor. I can honestly say Luke is such a sweetheart, he takes the time to interact with his fans and take pictures with them even when he’s being told by the event organizers that he’s supposed to back to the VIP lounge.

Just look at those cheeks of his! So cute! Ahh.

After taking a picture with Luke, we left the event and walked our way back to the subway station. All in all, I have to say the mission to attend this Faze magazine event was worth it. It was the first time either of us explored that area of Toronto, we both tried gelato for the first time, we met Bridgit Mendler and Luke Bilyk and to top it all off, we received some nifty “swag bags” from Faze Magazine (which I’ll be posting very shortly).

I swear, this is the longest post I’ve written in a long time but I hope you guys enjoy it. I know we haven’t been blogging much but it’s getting hard since school is starting so soon! I’ll leave you guys with a picture I snapped leaving the event.

Luke Bilyk At Faze Magazine’s Power Up! Event

Hey guys,

Here’s a little video from Faze Magazine’s Power Up! event that my friend and I went to yesterday. I couldn’t get too close to the stage because there were way too many screaming fan girls, but I hope you guys can still hear what Luke and the host were saying! I can’t wait to share with you all my experience. If you watch the video above, you’ll notice that I met Luke Bilyk (an actor from Degrassi). I’ll go into more details tomorrow after I’m home from my orientation from j-school!

Aztec & Spikes Sneak Peak

I went out today with one of my close friends – it was just a girls day filled with catching up! It’s unbelievable that I’ll be starting Journalism school on September 4th. This year, summer went  by way too quickly! With just one week left, I’m just trying to do as much as possible but also relax before schools workload kicks in.

I decided to do a little outfit sneak peak of today – only because I totally forgot to take pictures of the outfit. I really wanted to show you guys the necklace I received. It’s freaking amazing and I love it! It’s silver and gold spikes – and it literally looks good with most outfits.

The necklace is from OASAP and the print behind the necklace is actually a high-low dress from Madam rage. The dress is gorgeous. I thought it would look awkward on me considering I’m only 4’9….but it was a perfect fit! The punk necklace just completed the look and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s a necklace that I’ve been looking for and I finally got it – and it was only $11 on Oasap.

Hope you guys are enjoying the last few days of summer. Cherish the time because before you know it, we’re all going to be stressing out because of school.

I’ll have more outfit pictures up this week hopefully! I’m going to Faze Magazine’s Power Up! Event tomorrow.
