Graduation!

Four long years and it’s finally over!

Yes, that’s right – On Wednesday June 27th I became an official high school graduate. Words can’t express how happy I am to finally put high school behind me and begin a new chapter of my life this Fall. To be quite honest with you guys, I did not enjoy high school at all. Yes, there were many moments that were pretty good but other than that, I was just so eager to get out and finally start fresh.

I thought I’d share with you my high school experience! Honestly, I didn’t learn anything. Hahaha I’m not going to say the typical “I’ve learned who my real friends are” because let’s be real, you never know what’s going to happen in the future. The friends you think are your “true friends” at the moment, can either drift away or turn on you in the future. However I will say that from my experience, I do have a better judgement of people. High school was definitely a roller coaster for me, there were tons of ups and downs. I was never motivated in school nor did I try as hard as I wanted to. I let my grades slip on and off and it’s something I’m not proud of. The main reason behind this lack of motivation and not putting forth 100% in my work is because of the environment I was in. It is true when they say that when you’re not in an environment which you love, you’re just going to neglect everything and everyone around you. And that’s exactly what I did.

Although, high school did help me realize two things: my passion and a lesson. If it wouldn’t have been for that english class in grade ten, I would not have realized my passion for Journalism. I honestly don’t know what program I’d be going into next year or even what career I want to pursue in the future if it wasn’t for high school. Along with my passion, a lesson was taught. And that is to go for what you like. I didn’t really have an issue with this situation, but I know a ton of people at my high school who were facing issues such as going into a program that they didn’t like simply because of their parents. Don’t ever back down from something just because someone doesn’t approve of it. Don’t allow yourself to be forced into pursuing a career or attending a specific school because it’s your parents wishes because at the end, they’re not going to be there. When they’re gone, you’re still going to be miserable pursuing a career that you never loved to begin with. And trust me, you will regret not going after your dreams.

Anywho, that’s pretty much my high school experience for you guys! Check out pictures from my grad below with some of my close friends. I know the pictures aren’t clear as they usually are and the lighting is absolutely horrible but it’s because of the banquet hall we were in. I took pictures after the four hour long ceremony (which by then everyone’s hair was messed up by those ugly caps) and the banquet halls lighting was extremely dim.

Oh my gosh – I look so dark in this picture LOL! Now you know what I’m talking about when I say the lighting was bad!

Smashbox Review

A few weeks ago we were sent a couple of products from Smashbox to try out. We received Smashbox’s Color Correcting Hydrating Powder, the Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow and Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss.

Color Correcting Hydrating Powder in Halo Yellow: As you can see, I have heavily swatched the powder because it is very sheer. By no means do you have to worry about appearing all ghost-like when applying this product because it blends in very well. The powder proves to reduce redness by evening out your skin tone. By the end of the application your face will be flawless. The thing I enjoyed most about this product is the packaging. Instead of  shaking the container for the powder to come out, you just have to turn the rim which will easily grate out the powder. So no more extra powder spilling everywhere!

*This powder is oil-free, talc-free and paraben free!
Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Quartz: I know the swatch above looks to be a taupe colour, but I have to admit the lighting does no justice. The product itself has a pink champagne tone and is very creamy and pigmented. It blends easily, and is crease resistant so it can be used as a base and can be mixed with other shadows and liners. Overall, its a great product that stays put and doesn’t stray.
Reflection High Shine Lip Gloss in Candy: I’m not a big fan of lip glosses so I found this product to be okay. It’s a bit thick and pretty stick which just isn’t my cup of tea. I wore it alone and I just didn’t find the colour to be that appealing. Quite honestly, I don’t think something like this would be worth the money, but if you’re a lip gloss kinda girl who loves to achieve that super shine on her lips then this product may be for you.

Disclaimer: We Were Approached By The Company For Review Purposes. All Opinions Stated In This Blog Post Are Honest And Of Our Own.

Featured Brand: Rocky Mountain Soap Company

I’d like to start off by saying that we’re officially back! You guys probably noticed a huge gap where we stopped writing and only wrote a post or two every few days. That’s because we were renovating our website (basically just our banner) and I don’t know about you, but I definitely cannot write properly until everything looks good! Both Natasha and I were not satisfied with our old banner, but now it’s fixed and we’re so excited to get back to the blogging atmosphere!

You all know that we have our ‘shoes of the week’ or how we show you guys our favourite pieces from a well known stores collection, but I want to expand and focus on different brands that maybe not too many individuals have heard of before. So every so often I will be sharing with you all a company that I’ve found and basically just talk about them. I find it fun looking up companies that I’ve never heard of before and just reading reviews of their products – because let’s be honest, it gets boring using the same brand/company every single time you purchase a certain item. It’s nice to change things up for a bit.

Today I will be talking about the Rocky Mountain Soap Company! I came across this website after reading a blog’s reviews on their products so I checked out the RMSC’s site. Their products seem really good and the best part is they are a Canadian company!

Here are some of the products that I just fell in love with:

Nude Lip Gloss – Totally in style and obviously it is a must have! I was surprised to see that the RMSC made lip glosses! They have 5 different lip glosses – from berry, blush, cinnamon, clear peppermint and my favourite, nude! This gloss only costs $8 and I think what impresses me the most are the ingredients. Usually when I read the ingredients in my lip gloss, I’d find Polybutene, Octyldodecanol, Silica, and all those strange ingredients. However, RMSC’s main ingredients in this lip gloss are castor seed oil, pomegranate sterols, and pomegranate extract. At least a normal person can recognize what exactly was used to make this lip gloss compared to the others!

I will forever and always be drawn to perfume…I just love it! But it also depends on the scent – because if it’s too strong then it just makes me sneeze and get a headache and no one wants that. Yet again, I was really surprised to see that the Rocky Mountain Soap Company sold perfume. Out of all the types they have, I would definitely buy their Jasmine perfume. It’s as if I can smell the sweet scent of Jasmine! Again, taking a look at the main ingredients used in this perfume is kind of mind blowing. The main ingredients are lemon essential oil and sunflower seed oil – kind of amazing, don’t you think?

Last but not least – body wash is essential in a girl’s life. I found this lemongrass hand & body wash on the site for $13.49. I know it seems a tad pricey for body wash, but then again it’s the quality of the  product that makes it worth buying. I’ve noticed that all of the products featured on the Rocky Mountain Soap Company’s website are all fresh and organic. They don’t seem to include any chemicals into their products which is superb!

That’s all for this weeks featured brand. I’ll be back next week with another brand post.

YouTube Guru of the Month : LUXYHAIR

Hi everyone!

Today I wanted to introduce to you my favourite monthly Youtube guru. Each month I will give a shout out to a YouTuber that I simply adore and hope that you guys love them just as much as I do.

There was a certain point in my life where nothing made sense. I was fresh out of high school, I was confused and I didn’t know what I was doing or where my life was headed. I was in a complete funk and just didn’t know how to get out of it.  One day, I randomly started searching up hair tutorials on YouTube when I came across this channel made by two sisters, Mimi and Leyla. They were both stunning and had great hair! I noticed they were from Toronto so I immediately became more interested in watching their videos. The thing with me is if I find someone on YouTube that I really like; I will watch all their videos in an instant. While watching these videos I realized how sweet and down to heart these ladies were. Not only did their videos consist of hair and makeup tutorials but they contained such sincerity, happiness and positivity. I just adored these sisters! In fact, out of the two I instantly felt like I could relate to Leyla the most. I decided to email her quite some time ago, looking for some advice and when she replied I felt like that was all that was needed to change my outlook on life. From that email onwards, I became more spiritual in the sense that I took Leyla’s advice and started reading some motivational books. I can’t even express how these books changed my view of the world! I knew at that very moment that there was a very special reason why I stumbled upon the Luxy sisters channel because if it wasn’t for them, I don’t think I would have such a different mindset as I do now.

As a loyal subscriber to Luxy Hair I cannot express my gratitude to these sisters for helping me grow as an individual and allowing me to realize the pure simplicity of life. Ever since I started watching their videos I, myself have self-reflected on my life and what truly makes me happy.  Due to their love, support and advice I have managed to finally gain the courage to follow my own dreams. As I have learned at the end of the day, you have to make sure that you are following your heart’s true passion because that is where your happiness truly lies. And it is through their guidance that I am now able to pass on such positivity onto others in the pursuit of helping individuals acknowledge their purpose.

I feel so blessed to have them in my life as mentors and I thank them for being who they are and shedding light onto the simpler things in life that people nowadays have forgotten about. Thank you for not only helping me find my way, but changing lives of individuals everywhere with all your love.

Thank you.
